Disconnected From Love

Christians should have deep compassion for unbelievers because they are desperately in need of God*s love but they are disconnected from it. They can have brotherly love, familial love and sexual love but not the love of God. When unbelievers receive Jesus, they get connected to God*s love.

Romans 5:5b: . . . the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Individuals who reject Jesus reject His love. The love of God is not shed abroad in their hearts. For them disconnection from God*s love might last for a lifetime and for eternity.

1 John 4:8: He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

When individuals invite Jesus into their hearts He comes in, God*s love comes in, they are rooted and grounded in that love, they begin to comprehend and enjoy that love and they are filled with all the fullness of God. Then and only then does the love of God come through them and out of them.

Ephesians 3:17-19: That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Christians often unrealistically expect unbelievers to love them with God*s kind of love. When they do not love us with God*s love, we should not be hurt or angry at them. It should teach us that we need to pray for them that they will become connected to God*s love too. Whenever someone seems to hate you, pray for them.

When we know the reason that they hate us, we will know how to pray for them. We should pray that God will eliminate the cause so the symptom will go away. Too often we try to deal with the symptom rather than the cause.

Luke 6:28: Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

Romans 12:21: Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
